The company emerges from a journey of remembrance, a homecoming. Reconsidering our disrupted relationship to nature and non-humans, the ever more present urge to create an authentic way of inhabiting the landscape becomes an impetus behind our story. Moving away from the extractive narratives of the human-ecology entanglement, we tend to tell - and re-tell- stories that encourage a more symbiotic relationship, more malleable ways of relating, more like mud.
Through three core pillars of practice: conscious inquiry, radical collaboration, and design + make, we provide immersive courses, hold residencies, open discussions, create research, create spaces, create facilities and create design learning opportunities which aim to advance and further define the practice. Crucially, we practice new ‘ways of being’ alongside new ‘ways of doing’.
The company's directors, Felix Sagar, Millicent Green and Negar Taatizadeh, come from a background in architecture, and founded MudMasons in the hope of using their architectural knowledge to create positive change.
